The American Real Estate Commission

The American Real Estate Commission is a central level body but operates differently for different states, i.e. with different rules and regulations. All state level activities are controlled by the central body.

The Structure

Each State Level Commission consists of a few members elected by higher governing bodies. For example, the TREC or the Texas State Level Commission has nine members in its panel that are elected by the Governor of the State. The working tenure for each member is six years. The Commission members may include residential service companies, easement agents, education providers, real estate inspectors as well as brokers.

The Commissions for other states work on the same principle, only that the membership and the tenures may differ.

Functions and Responsibilities

A Real Estate Commission needs to protect the right of the consumer. Along with that, it needs to actively participate in the development of the economic sector. Real estate professionals need to obtain a licence from the Commission. This can be obtained after clearing an exam and paying a small licensing fee. This fee is used to help the commission work in a better way.

All information on the real estate Commission of all states are available online on the official Real Estate Commission Website such as information on education providers and licensing criteria etc.
